Samsung is giving smartphone users with the Samsung Members App exclusive access to the new beta version of the Android 10 operating system. The release is meant to “make the {user} experience more natural, seamless and efficient.”
The new operating system is available for a test drive for Galaxy 10 owners, including the following models:
- Galaxy S10e
- Galaxy S10
- Galaxy S10+
- Galaxy S10 5G
Although users need to keep in mind that beta versions of any operating system may include bugs, many people will be excited to try out the new top features in Android 10, including:
- Focus Mode, which disables apps that could annoy users while they’re trying to concentrate
- Improved Dark Mode that works on the home screen
- Notifications that take up less space on the screen
- Screen time management tool
Android 10 is the first Android operating system that will not have a dessert-themed name. Google announced the change to their naming convention earlier in the year, citing the difficulty of translating some desserts – Oreo, Éclair, etc. – to languages that may not include those letters in their alphabet, let alone know what those desserts actually are. Overall, the move is meant to make the OS more inclusive and accessible on a global level.
